Basic Free Trial Mode Conditions

Starting March 1, 2026, we’re updating Sembly plans' structure and plan names to make them better aligned with how customers use Sembly today.

If you're using a free Personal plan, you will be moved to a Basic free trial, with limited features and no need to add a credit card. The Basic plan free trial mode does not require a credit card at registration either. 

 This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about its conditions and limitations. We’ve outlined the available features, any applicable restrictions, and how the free plan mode differs from a paid subscription.

Free Basic vs. Paid Basic

If you're hesitating and not sure what to choose, here are some points that will help you to decide:

1. File upload minutes and recordings. Basic free trial mode has strict limits from the start. The paid Basic plan includes more generous file upload limits and unlimited recordings. Moreover, once a paid subscription begins, all minutes used during the trial will be reset and counted from the start of the billing cycle. You can purchase credits to receive more file upload minutes, which isn't available in the Basic free mode.

2. Time processing. Meetings recorded or uploaded under a Basic free trial mode may take longer to process than on a paid plan.

3. Meeting history. Meeting audio files and text media (Meeting Notes, Transcriptions, Tasks, or Key Items) older than 4 months will be automatically deleted and cannot be recovered for the Basic free trial mode. Upgrade to a paid Basic plan before the retention policy is activated to ensure all your meeting recordings are securely stored for a year. 

4. Automations. Basic free trial mode is limited to 1 automation rule in Native Automations, allowing you to choose what, when, and where to send data to a chosen app. No Zapier or Custom Automations are available. The Paid Basic plan has extended limits: you can create up to 3 automation rules and use Zapier templates to send Notes, Transcriptions, or Tasks to preferred tools. 

5. Agent customization. The Paid Basic plan allows you to change the agent name from the standard {your_workspace_name} Sembly Agent to any other name for Zoom and Microsoft Teams calls. The Basic free trial mode has no customization options.
