This article shows you how to create a custom integration between Zapier and Trello (as an example) for pushing Tasks from Sembly to your task management tool.
We will use Zapier as a third-party tool. It is online automation software that helps us to link other tools to Sembly. You can find additional information on how to work with Zapier here Zapier help center.
To create the endpoint URL in other automation software, look for the guide materials in the tool’s help center. |
Create an Endpoint URL in Zapier
- Log in to your Zapier account or create a new account
- Click + Create Zap on the upper left
- Search for webhooks by Zapier or use our shortcut link: Webhook by Zapier
- In the “Event” field, click to open a dropdown and select Catch hook
- Click Continue (at the "App & event" and "Trigger" step)
- Copy the webhook URL and paste it into Sembly in the Endpoint URL field
- While you are still in Sembly, you can test the link you just pasted:
- In Zapier, click "Test Trigger" -> "Continue with selected record"
- Search for the platform (in our case Trello) you will be connecting to Sembly
- In the “Event” field, click to open a dropdown, select Find member and click Continue
- Connect your Trello account and click Continue
- Then choose your organization, add trigger "Item assigned to" to the "Member field" and click Continue
- After, please skip the test and add a new step
- Then, in the “Event” field, click to open a dropdown, select Create card and click Continue
- Connect your Trello account and click Continue
- Then fill in all required fields and click Continue
Field What you need to choose Board Choose the preferred board for the task List Choose the preferred list for the task Name Select "Item header text" hook Description Select "Item text" and "Item assigned by" hooks Due date Select "Item due date" hook - After you need to Test action and click Publish
- The result will be visible on the Trello board
Export Tasks to your task management tool
- Open Tasks and click on a Zap icon
- In a dropdown, select the destination where you want the task to be sent and click Post Item...
- The item will be exported to your task management tool with the rest of the data that you set up.
